Gillian Reidy, MIDI
Advanced Dip Visual Communications – 1st class honours 1.1
Company Director, Lead Designer
Having graduated in 1991 with first class honours in Visual Communication design, Gillian freelanced in Ireland and abroad as an illustrator and designer before setting up Penhouse Design in her native city Dublin, in 1996. A year after she married her (farmer) husband Colm, she moved the business to Laois in 1999, where they converted old farm buildings into new design studios in a rural setting near their home. Gillian is a designer and the creative director at Penhouse Design. She is hugely experienced in branding and design for print, with particular expertise in logos, packaging, brochure design and illustration, more recently moving into digital and social media. Gillian received her first design award in 1999 and has continued with her design team to win at least one award or accolade, nationally or internationally for Penhouse each year since then. Gillian and Colm have two children, Amy and Noah.
Leonie Rafter, MIDI
Advanced Dip. Design Communications
Senior Graphic Designer
Leonie studied Visual Communications in Athlone and began designing with Gillian in Penhouse in September 1999 when we first moved to Laois. She has become a major player in the success of Penhouse. Leonie’s relationship with our clients, her attention to detail and expertise in design and production gives her a key role in every project. Some of our favourite logos designed here have been created by Leonie, who is excellent at coming up with quirky concepts and realising brand identities. Leonie has significant input in all areas of design in the studio and has been instrumental in many of the design awards won here at Penhouse. Leonie’s area of particular strength lies in type styling, production and layout of large scale reports. She is also sharp witted and excellent at generating copy lines.
